A 'HOSTE OF RECIPES' - NEW COOKERY BOOK ON SALE NOW

The launch of the new Hoste Arms cookery book took place at the first annual fundraising event for the Paul Whittome Memorial Fund on the evening of 23 June 2011. Paul would have been so proud that his legacy lives on in The Hoste Arms and this new beautifully photographed cookery book has been created in his memory.

In The Hoste, Paul found the perfect place where he could indulge in his greatest passions - food, wine and good company - it therefore seemed fitting that a book should be produced of his favourite Hoste recipes that he used to enjoy on a daily basis. Paul would often sit in his office and order five starters, just to sample the latest creations by our chefs.

All the proceeds from the sales of the book will go to The Paul Whittome Memorial Fund, helping local people in need.

This 96-page soft-back book is available to purchase from Reception for just £12.50. Call 01328 738777 to order your copy now. Postage and packing is extra.

CELEBRITY RE VISIT!

TV stars Sue Moxley, (and owner of cosmetic brand `Famous`), and her husband- media personality David Van Day, (semi-finalist of the television show `I`m a Celebrity…Get me out of Here`, and former member of pop groups, Guys n Dolls, Dollar and Bucks Fizz,) chose to honeymoon at the famed Hoste Arms in Burnham Market 18 months ago, and can`t keep away- as they are enjoying a few days in the sunshine here in North Norfolk at the moment.

"We know this beautiful area very well,” says David, "and we love the Hoste Arms and its buzzy atmosphere, you know it`s the kind of place run by people who care, and it`s just a great `hangout`.”

"We are having a good time, really relaxing and everyone has looked after us very well. The Hoste is very stylish, good local food, (looking forward to enjoying some Brancaster mussels tonight) and a great atmosphere; we sunk a good bottle of wine last night and as we are staying in one of the Hoste`s guest cottages we sort of staggered back…

We are also love being able to bring our dogs Alfie and Lulu, and yesterday we went to the stunning beach at Wells-next-the-Sea -our favourite beach in the whole country!

We are both very busy with various projects on the horizon-our Cabaret act `Rich and Famous` is going well, and Sue is launching a new range of makeup tools and also a lashes and nails deal in collaboration with the stars of Towie.

But for now we are both about to start filming a new series of Boot Camp for ITV2 in the Cotswolds, where we will no doubt be pulled and pushed about and made to cry, so this is our last chance to indulge ourselves before that, the food here is absolutely lush-a last supper so to speak!”

A CELEBRATION OF PAUL'S LIFE - 23 JUNE 2011

It doesn’t seem possible that nearly a year has passed since Paul Whittome, the founder and owner of The Hoste Arms passed away.

The man who transformed The Hoste and undoubtedly put Burnham Market on the map, was remembered by close friends and family at an event to celebrate his life on the evening of Thursday 23 June 2011. Paul’s hero, Elvis, was there in the form of Jay Ashton and a wall plaque was unveiled in Paul’s memory. The event saw the launch of The Paul Whittome Memorial Fund, which will raise money to help people in need and will be a lasting legacy to Paul. Tickets to the event and an auction and raffle raised £6,500 for the charity. Jeanne Whittome took great pleasure in presenting the cheque to Dr Sarah Gorrod from Burnham Market Doctor's Surgery. Future events at The Hoste will continue to raise money for this worthy cause.

HOSTE SUPERCAR CLUB CHAMPAGNE RECEPTION AND DRIVE OUT

It was with great pride and pleasure that Jeanne Whittome hosted the second Hoste Arms Supercar Club event on 26th/27th May. In 2010 Paul fulfilled his long-held dream to start this club, and he would have been delighted to know that it was continuing without him. A fabulous champagne reception and dinner was held in the Moroccan Garden, followed by a fantastic display the next morning of `Supercars`-Bentley, Mercedes, Ferrari, Porsche, Jensen ,Triumph TVR, Ford Mustang, Alvis, Bristol 400, and amongst others John Lennon`s Mercedes Limousine. There were prizes and speeches , then Jeanne led the driveout on the back of Paul`s prized Harley Davidson motorcycle!
The cars drove via Holkham Hall to Houghton Hall where the Subaru Houghton International Horse Trials were taking place, and were lined up in pride of place in front of Houghton Hall, by kind permission of Lord and Lady Cholmondeley.

JAPANESE GARDEN OPENS AT THE HOSTE BEAUTY SPA
Another fab party was held at the Hoste, to welcome guests to see the Beauty Spa and the fabulous new Japanese garden-a tranquil haven in which to really chill out and relax-what better place to enjoy a glass of bubbly than in the six seater hot tub.

Guests were welcomed by the Duchess of Rutland and Les Dennis, both whom praised the Hoste and of course its new Chairman Jeanne and her hard work to ensure that Paul's legacy lives on, and the fact that the hotel is constantly growing and updating. Jeanne's school friend top fitness trainer Jenni Rivett flew in from South Africa to talk to guest about the Fitness and Wellness packages she will be offering at the Hoste in May, November and January. Check out the Spa section of the website for all details. Guests enjoyed yummy canapes and bubbly and complimentary treatments and goody bags by Clarins and Mary Cohr. Beautiful Bottoms lingerie was modelled by several beautiful girls! This successful range of undies owned by Jeanne's daughter Lauren, is available to buy at the Beauty Spa.

SERIOUSLY GOOD COFFEE AT THE HOSTE!
We had great fun doing a photo shoot with the gorgeous Paddy and Scott from `Paddy and Scotts Coffee`.

We provide their delicious slow roasted coffee in all our guest bedrooms at the Hoste, and it is proving very popular.

Jeanne was very keen to support these guys as it is always exciting seeing how a new business develops, and these two boys will go far we are sure.

And as you can drink the coffee in our bedrooms we had to have a `boudoir` pic or two!

Grand fund raising party for the Christmas Lights in Burnham Market

The Hoste certainly know how to throw a fabulous party, and the Moroccan Garden was certainly rocking on the night of the fundraising event to raise funds for the new Christmas Lights for the village, with music from a Hoste favourite-Keely Rayner and dancing to Disco Inferno.

The fund raising campaign spearheaded by Hoste MD Emma Tagg, kicked off with a party attended by over 180 guests, who enjoyed delicious food and fizz, and lots of other treats like cupcakes and vodka jelly shots!

There was a raffle and auction with amazing prizes, and the Hoste have produced a fun calandar that is for sale at reception, which shows various members of staff in various stages of undress-the Hoste uncovered so to speak! All this will ensure that the village will get their new lights, and with Emma Tagg`s help, restore the razzamattaz of the switch-on ceremony, that will be held on Saturday November 20th .

Paul's fabulous surprise party!

Amanda Holden threw a wonderful surprise party for Paul, helped by John Cushing, Emma Tagg and the team at the Hoste and 140 of his friends who had to keep it all a BIG secret! It was a wonderful evening with champagne and canapes all the way. Big screen messages for Paul from many friends who couldn't be there, including Stephen Fry, cabaret from amongst others the inimitable 'Stavros Flatley' and 'Signature'-stars of Britain's Got Talent, and of course no party for Paul would be complete without an appearance by the king himself-Elvis. A night to remember indeed!

The Black & White Masked Party

Hoste PR Sarah Eddison celebrated her 50th birthday party with great panache and style in the Moroccan Garden. All the guests looked fabulously glam in black and white and many were unrecognisable in their masks. Guests enjoyed mini bottles of proscecco on arrival before tucking into savoury and sweet canapes: such as mini yorkshire puds with rare beef, chicken satay, oriental duck tartlets, tiny lemon tarts, and fruit skewers with chocolate sauce. Jazz singer Keely Rayner entertained with old favourites like Moondance and Mac the Knife, followed by dancing to Carlo Valori`s disco. The Hoste was truly rocking!!!
