MERMAID CENTRE APPEAL, WELLS COMMUNITY HOSPITAL FABULOUS FUND RAISING PARTY IN THE MOROCCAN GARDEN! Thursday October 7th, 6pm-8pm. The Mermaid Centre Appeal is a new initiative that will enable them to provide lifesaving treatment ( to fund a Renal Dialysis Unit) and safeguard the financial future of the hospital. The Committee and guests/celebrities are holding a fabulous Drinks/Canapes reception at the Hoste Arms, to raise much-needed funds. With the added attraction of Jazz by the feted Liane Carroll. Tickets will be £25 each to include a glass of Prosecco/Canapes and funds from the tickets going directly to the Appeal. Ring 01328 738777 to book. BURNHAM MARKET BOOK FESTIVAL 1st, 2nd and 3rd October. The second book festival organised by White House book shop in Burnham Market, will be held in the Moroccan Garden over the weekend of 1st, 2nd and 3rd October. The brainchild of Catherine Bennett an ex-Lawyer who switched career to persue her dream of opening and bookshop for `real book lovers-and now owns White House Books , and Rosalind English who writes weighty legal tomes -but who also loves great British literature, the 2009 Festival was a run-away success and so now will become an annual highlight. This autumn a glittering array of renowned authors will be speaking, covering highly topical subjects as diverse as Antarctic exploration, military strategy in Afghanistan, piracy, and war-time thrift in the kitchen, alongside Christianity and psychological thriller writing, there is something for everyone. Best selling authors who are joining us include Simon Jenkins, Sara Wheeler, Nicci French, General Sir Richard Dannatt, Ben Macintyre and Jane Fearnley Whittingstall. Interviewers include Erica Wagner, literary editor of The Times, and Francine Stock, radio and TV presenter. A fabulous Beauty and Wellness Salon will be opening at the Hoste in January 2011, with an official launch party to celebrate the opening to be held in March.

Work begins in October, and we will keep you posted with all the news and details about treatments, products and wellness breaks in due course.

Recent Events:

Ladies lunch and M.A.C Makeup event Lots of glam ladies enjoyed a fun lunch in the Moroccan Garden in conjunction with Jarrolds of Norwich, and the famed M.A.C , learning the secrets of contemporary makeup, with several demonstrations and lots of fab products available to purchase. Pimms was served and delicious mini hamburgers and strawberry pavlovas!

The Hoste Arms SUPERCAR event! Paul's long held ambition to bring together all the people he knows who share his love of beautiful cars in an informal, non-sponsoring event came to fruition ,with the Inaugural Supercar Event that took place over two days, kicking off with a champagne reception and dinner at the Hoste Arms, and ending the next morning with around 60 cars leaving the Hoste in convoy and assembling outside Houghton Hall during the Houghton International Horse Trials. What a spectacle! It was a glamorous affair with the most stunning cars on display, including a 1929 Bentley Blower, and the black 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California owned by Chris Evans, which was kept safe on a trailer overnight (the car cost 6 million pounds!). Guests included Mr Jack Sears, who is President of the Ferarri Owners Club of Great Britain. There were prizes for Paul` favourite cars in various categories -given out by Anneka Rice, and the parade left the Hoste, led by Paul on his Harley Davidson, followed by his wife Jeanne driving his treasured Ferarri 360 Spider.

Paul's fabulous surprise party! Amanda Holden threw a wonderful surprise party for Paul, helped by John Cushing, Emma Tagg and the team at the Hoste and 140 of his friends who had to keep it all a BIG secret! It was a wonderful evening with champagne and canapes all the way. Big screen messages for Paul from many friends who couldn't be there, including Stephen Fry, cabaret from amongst others the inimitable 'Stavros Flatley' and 'Signature'-stars of Britain's Got Talent, and of course no party for Paul would be complete without an appearance by the king himself-Elvis. A night to remember indeed!

The Black & White Masked Party Hoste PR Sarah Eddison celebrated her 50th birthday party with great panache and style in the Moroccan Garden. All the guests looked fabulously glam in black and white and many were unrecognisable in their masks. Guests enjoyed mini bottles of proscecco on arrival before tucking into savoury and sweet canapes: such as mini yorkshire puds with rare beef, chicken satay, oriental duck tartlets, tiny lemon tarts, and fruit skewers with chocolate sauce. Jazz singer Keely Rayner entertained with old favourites like Moondance and Mac the Knife, followed by dancing to Carlo Valori`s disco. The Hoste was truly rocking!!!

The Burnham Market Book Festival at The Hoste Arms The White House bookshop in the village, hosted a splendid weekend celebration of literature and ideas in the Moroccan Garden .A wide range of celebrated writers attended including Kate Adie and Richard Mabey, and professional interviewers took them through their paces before the floor was open to questions from the audience. Celebrity Wedding at The Hoste

Sue Moxley-Beauty Editor of the Sun Newspaper, presenter of a TV show on Sky, and owner of cosmetic brand 'Famous', and her new husband Media personality David Van Day, who recently appeared on `I`m a Celebrity...Get me out of Here` ,and was formerly a member of pop groups `Dollar`, `Guys `n` Dolls` and` Bucks Fizz`, have just spent their honeymoon at the Hoste Arms.

"We know and love the area, and last time we came here the Hoste was full so we were determined to stay this time. We have been looked after very well, and have had a lovely relaxing time - and we were able to bring our Yorkshire Terrier Alfie too! We will definitely be back soon!"
